Errori con tabella troppo lunga (forse è una faq)

Ho una lista di pacchetti rpm da inserire in appendice ad un documento. La mia idea era usare una tabella (xtab, longtable, supertabular, ecc…). Le righe da inserire in tabella sono circa 1900…
Il problema è che, dopo 100 righe circa, iniziano a comparire errori senza senso, tipo
`undefined control sequence ` in cui il numero di riga cambia se commento le righe sopra, ma non sparisce…
Ho provato a spezzare la tabella in parti più piccole, ma non cambia molto…
Sperimentando, ho scoperto che:

partendo da 1 sola riga, la tabella viene compilata.
aggiungendo righe, si arriva ad un certo punto (circa 45 righe), dove inizia a dare errori.
togliendo una riga, l’errore non rientra: occorre togliere più righe (4-5), ricompilare e rimettere n-1 righe

Questo strano comportamento non l’avevo mai visto.
Qualcuno ha delle idee in materia? Il sistema è CentOS 5.4 con TexLive 2008.
