Ok.

As Doc said, you should, in any case, use eledmac instead of ledmac.

I’m not sur to understand exactly what you mean : have a number for stanza (1) or have an unbroken numbering of line for stanza but a broken for prose (2). So I will propose to you a solution for both case.

have a number for stanza (1)

The solution is very easy. If you don’t use a sectionning command (as \section), you could define your own counter and increment it a each stanza.
For example in you preamble:

`
\newcounter{stanza}% A counter for stanza
\newcommand{\stanzacount}{
\stepcounter{stanza}%Add one to the counter
[\thestanza]% Print in bracket the value of the stanza
}
`

And at each stanza, you call \stantzacount (instead of [1] and [2] in your example)

have an unbroken numbering of line for stanza but a broken for prose (2)

As it mix broken and unbroken line numbering, we can’t use \pausenumbering.

The solution will be :

  1. At the end of stanza, before \endnumbering, save the line number in a counter.
  2. At the begining of a stanza, between \beginnumbering and \stanza, set the line number with the value saved in the counter.

So, in you preamble, define a command \savestanzaline, and call it at the end of a stanza, after the \& and before \linenumbering :

`
\makeatletter% We need to use command with an @.
\newcounter{stanzaline}% The counter to save the stanza line.
\newcommand{\savestanzaline}[0]{\setcounter{stanzaline}{\line@num}}%\line@num is the internal counter of eledmac use for line numbering.
\makeatother% No need anymore command with @
`

And so, at the begining of a stanza, between \beginnumbering and \stanza, call :
`
\setlinenum{\thestanzaline}
`

To change the line number, and have a continuus line numbering with the previous stanza…

Hope to be helpful.
