-This requires latex and WinEdt to be already installed under a Windows enviroment.
-To install beamer:
-1.- Create a folder called Temporary in your C: directory.
0.- Unzip beamer.zip and extract all the files inside Temporary.
Now there must be two folders inside Temporary: beamer and cibeamer
1.- Unzip pgf-1.zip and extract to Temporary.
Now there is an extra folder in Temporary: pgf-1.01
2.- Move the following folders located in Temporary: beamer and cibeamer
to C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf\tex\latex (or corresponding)
3.- Move the following folders located in Temporary: pgf-1.01
to C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf\tex\generic (or corresponding)
4.- Erase your folder Temporary
5.- Create a new folder called: Beamer in your desktop.
6.- Unzip example.zip into that folder.
Now there is a folder on your desktop called Beamer and inside
there is a folder called example.
7.- Download also the readme.txt file, BeamerFAQ.txt, beameruserguide.pdf
as well as handouts.doc in your Beamer folder. Now every thing has been installed and downloaded. You now want to refresh your data as follows:
Refresh Procedure. You have two options, use your favorite.
Option A In WinEdt select Accessories, MiKTeX, MiKTeX Options. If you can’t, use Option B.
Under Roots select C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf as your Local TEXMF directory, if it is
not there add it with the option add, make sure you move it up with the option up
so it is in the top. Click on the General tab and select refresh database. Now okOption B Now locate mo in the directory C:\MiKTeX\texmf\miktex\bin and double click it.
Under Roots select C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf as your Local TEXMF directory, if it is
not there add it with the option add, make sure you move it up with the option up
so it is in the top. Click on the General tab and select refresh database. Now ok-To test beamer:
1.- If you did the above steps skip 2 and go to 3.
2.- Copy the folder example into your Beamer folder.
3.- Double click on template.tex located inside the folder example
(which is inside Beamer on your Desktop).
4.- Now click on PDFLaTeX in WinEdt (this is NOT the same as doing latex and then dvi2pdf).
5.- Be patient and wait until a pdf file comes. If it does not or it gives you an error make sure you did the refreshing procedure described above this is:
A.- In WinEdt select Accessories, MiKTeX, MiKTeX Options. If you can’t, use Option B.
Under Roots select C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf as your Local TEXMF directorythere.
Here there must be two files C:\MiKTeX\texmf and C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf,
this last one must be declared as your local directory and it must be up
(above C:\MiKTeX\texmf). Click on the General tab and select refresh database. Now ok
B Locate mo in the directory C:\MiKTeX\texmf\miktex\bin and double click it.
Under Roots select C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf as your Local TEXMF directory, if it is
not there add it with the option add, make sure you move it up with the option up
so it is in the top. Here there must be two files C:\MiKTeX\texmf and C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf,
this last one must be declared as your local directory and it must be up
(above C:\MiKTeX\texmf). Click on the General tab and select refresh database. Now okNotes: A general rule is: Create a folder containing:
a) Your myexample.tex (beamer slides)
b) a folder called images where you will save all the images you will use
in myexample.tex.
c) a folder called media where you will save all the media files you will use
in myexample.tex (audio files, video files, etc.)
d) a file called mybeamersettings.tex (you can just copy it)Notes: If when compiling acrobat reader crashes, mostlikely it is a picture the does not
exists. 99% of the time it has been a picture in my case.
Check the command includegraphics and make sure the pic you want to use
exists and also that it has the correct format (pdf,ps or jpg according to your needs)
if such picture is in your images folder, you do not need to go back to do the
refreshing procedure, however if it is an image you will be using in several files
at several times, you might place it inside localtexmf or texmf, then you need to do
the refreshing procedure each time you add an image there.Notes: If when clicking on pdflatex it crashes, mostlikely you need to copy the folder
pdfscreen into C:\MiKTeX\localtexmf\tex\latex.Note to me (do not apply to you only to me): The folders
ExamplePRO: REtemplate and myREUbeammersettings were updated
cibeamer: beamerouterthemeciplain.sty, reu.pdf (inserted)
were updated as of July 20/2007.Good luck.
….riesce a compilare il templax…ma non riesco a compilare nessun altro esempio….mi dice “beamer.cls not found”
e mi propone di installarlo ma la connessione fallisce..
ho provato con la procedura automatica
•Avviate il programma MiKTeX Package Manager (Avvio > Programmi > MiKTeX > MiKTeX Package Manager ): apparirà una finesta con l’elenco, in ordine alfabetico, dei pacchetti disponibili nel vostro repository (archivio); in corrispondenza di ciascuno di essi, viene indicato se esso è installato e ne viene fatta una breve descrizione;
•Evidenziate il nome dei pacchetti che volete installare;
•Premete il tasto “+” che si evidenzierà e attendete che il processo di installazione sia concluso;
Grazie
