Pacchetto lilyglyphs

Apro un nuovo filone su un argomento già comparso nel forum poco tempo fa.

Come sapete, Urs Liska ha finalmente rilasciato la prima versione ufficiale del pacchetto lilyglyphs, che permette di inserire in un documento composto con XeLaTeX i caratteri musicali del font Emmentaler propri di LilyPond. Il font Emmentaler è OpenType. Il tutto si trova qui

ma, almeno ora, i collegamenti in blu non funzionano.

Il pacchetto è rimasto in versione beta per molto tempo, e un mesetto fa ho provato a usarlo (con successo), perché avevo bisogno di inserire in un documento i segni di diesis, bemolle e bequadro. Non ho fatto altro che compormi un unico file [tt]lilyglyphs.sty[/tt] e metterlo nella cartella di lavoro insieme a tutte le immaginette dei vari simboli in formato PDF necessarie. Infine ho installato i vari file del font Emmentaler per renderli visibili a XeLaTeX. Quindi, di fatto, non ho toccato gli alberi di TeX Live.

Ieri ho chiesto a Urs se questa versione per CTAN può essere installata come di consueto (cioè tramite TeX Live Utility, come faccio di solito) oppure se c’è bisogno di qualche manovra manuale da parte dell’utente. La risposta è stata questa:

That somewhat depends on how you have set up your system until now.
Basically I’d say: If you haven’t added any personal stuff you can
safely remove everything from the old installation.
In particular you should remove the Emmentaler fonts, they shouldn’t be
visible anymore.

The question is how to and where from to install the package now. Each
option has upsides and downsides.

a) TeXLive
This should make the package usable without any further interaction. At
least it did when I tested to install from TeXLive, and I don’t have
reason to assume it could be different at other places.
You should just make sure you haven’t installed Emmentaler as a system
font because that seems to disturb xetex.
The (only) downside is that some parts needed for extending the package
with your own commands are somewhat buried in the TL installation tree.

b) CTAN
1. Simply extract the archive somewhere in your texmf tree.
2. create a symlink from texmf/fonts/opentype to the fonts directory in
the package
(a symlink is better than copying because you don’t have to repeat that
step when updating)
3. (optional) extract documentation/lilyglyphs_private.zip to a place in
the texmf tree

c) Github (git clone)
fork/clone the repository somewhere in the texmf tree.
2. proceed as in b 2).
3. isn’t necessary
The advantage of that approach is that you have access to any updates as
soon as they are pushed.
And you can add stuff directly inside the repository and contribute back
without detour.

So if it’s possible I strongly recommend solution c)

And – if that’s possible – I would like you to do that following the
instructions in the manual.
This is _not_ a RTFM comment but a request for testing 😉
I hope I’ve made everything clear and correct, but the reality check
(i.e. an external user succeding) is still missing …

Che capite, voi? Io seguirei il metodo a), ma non capisco perché dovrei disinstallare i font Emmentaler…
