Da manuale di Libertine:

Der Libertine-Font wird über
\usepackage{libertineotf}
eingebunden. Er steht dann unter xelatex und lualatex zur Verügung.
latex und pdflatex mit Type 1 Fonts werden nicht mehr unterstützt.

Certo che non rendere più il font disponibile per latex e pdflatex (quando poi ancora
siamo a quanto sembre lontani dall’integrazione di microtype in XeLaTeX)
non so se è proprio in’idea fantastica…
