Prova \cite{HaleWright:2000}. This solution aligns with the proposal in \cite{Hale:2021}.
It may come as something of a shock how little progress has so far been made. In Section
iii we cited three considerations on which Frege relied for his warrant to claim that numerals
and other number phrases were authentic singular terms; and canvassed a fourth, negation-
asymmetry test for the distinction between singular term and predicate. We noted at the time
that Frege’s first consideration was unsatisfactory in the context of the attempt to explain in
general what a singular term is. Frege had remarked that whenever a numerical expression
functions adjectivally, or as part of an adjectival phrase, it will be straightforward to
paraphrase the whole sentence so that the numerical expression functions as a singular term
instead; but, obviously, no-one can recognise the correctness of this observation about
numerical expressions who is not already au fait with the notion of a singular term; hence the
observation cannot contribute towards the elucidation of the latter notion. What we did not
note earlier was that the second, third and fourth considerations do not contribute any better.\end{document}

Buongiorno,vi ringrazio intanto per i consigli che mi avete dato su questo argomento. Dopo l’aggiornamento, il problema sembra in parte risolto.
Ci sono però degli aspetti che non capisco. Lo stesso file tex, con lo stesso file bib, si comporta in modi diversi in base alla posizione:
1. se carico entrambi i files su overleaf, il file tex viene compilato e la bibliografia viene correttamente aggiunta;
2. se lascio entrambi i files sulla scrivania del computer, il file tex viene compilato, ma la bibliografia non appare (dopo aver ripetuto più volte la compilazione con LaTex, BibTex, LaTex, LaTex);
3. se metto entrambi i files in una stessa cartella, il file tex non viene neanche compilato !Cosa sbaglio nei casi 2 e 3?
Vi copio qui sotto un esempio minimo di testo che si comporta nel modo descritto e il messaggio di errore relativo al caso 2 (nel caso 3, non ricevo neanche il messaggio di errore e la finestra del pdf rimane vuota).

Ciao, grazie mille per i consigli.Ho provato ad aprire TeX Live Utility, ma mi è apparso un messaggio di errore che mi suggeriva di scaricare manualmente una versione più aggiornata. La sto scaricando ora.
Nel frattempo, scusate per la confusione tra TeXShop e compositore. Nella prima riga del file .log c’è scritto: This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.24 (TeX Live 2022) (preloaded format=pdflatex 2022.12.31) 16 JUL 2025 19:11
Mi sembra strano che il problema sia il compositore perché non uso caratteri particolari e non ho modificato niente dall’ultima volta che ho aperto questo file…
Comunque vedo cosa succede dopo l’aggiornamento!

Nel frattempo, il problema è quasi scomparso: gli stessi files tex e bib non permettono la compilazione se si trovano in una cartella, ma permettono la compilazione corretta (anche con i riferimenti bibliografici in ordine) se si trovano sulla scrivania del computer…Com’è possibile?

Grazie per l’indicazione. Ho provato ad aggiungere \DeclareUnicodeChar{220A}{\ensuremath{\in}} nel preambolo, ma ora esce un nuovo messaggio di errore.In realtà, senza quel comando, la compilazione funziona. Si blocca quando provo ad aggiungere la bibliografia. Cosa posso modificare?

Grazie.Sì, usavo il comando \cite – perché mi sembrava di aver capito che la citazione venisse stampata automaticamente tra parentesi quadre (come infatti succede con lo stile numeric e il comando \cite).
Con i comandi \parencite e \autocite la citazione viene stampata tra parentesi tonde. Per me va benissimo così e ti ringrazio molto per il suggerimento.
Ma, per curiosità, esiste anche un modo per avere la citazione tra parentesi quadre?
