          Se hai modificato i punto sty hai commesso due errori
          1) Legale, la licenza dei file lo vieta
          2) Pratico modificando hai pasticciato ora come fai a ripristinare i file originali?
          In queste condizioni, specialmente per la seconda è difficile aiutare

            Sarò incompetente, ma non ho mai modificato nessun .sty file, a meno che fosse mio. Sono riuscito a risolvere il problema caricando i pacchetti giusti. Non ho ancora scritto la risposta, ma lo farò.

            Non ho modificato nessun file .sty, né l’ho mai detto. O meglio nel testo mi riferisco ad un MIO file .sty chiamato preambolo. L’ho modificato cancellando tutte le macro perché si tratta di un file medico che riguarda le mie condizioni di salute. Così come ho modificato il MIO file .Tex che conteneva informazioni mediche giornaliere e si chiama settimana104in.tex. Da essi ho cercato di estrarre dei mwe. Tutto qui.

              Però l’errore che viene segnalato alla fine del .log dice che hai pasticciato con la gestione delle lingue. Il prefisso bbl si riferisce a file di babel, che hai caricato all’inizio di prova4.sty e poi verso la fine carichi polyglossia. Polyglossia usa certe parti di babel adattate ai suoi comandi interni; ovviamente se hai caricato prima babel gli adattamanti non vengono fatti.

              Cancella la chiamata a polyglossia e vedrai che xelatex non si arresta più.

              Cerca di stare attento a queste cose; non aggiungere chiamate a pacchetti perché tanto potrebbero servire; più ne carichi e maggiore è il pericolo che ci siano dei conflitti come quello che apparentemente c’è qui.

              Ricorda inoltre che il comando \pagenumbering riazzera il contatore delle pagine prima di scriverne la numerazione con lo stile specificato. Perché metti \pagenumbering{arabic} nel preambolo e poi lo rimetti dopo \maketitle? È un errore logico avere due pagine numerate entrambe con lo stesso numero. Per fortuna non te ne accorgi, perché stai lavorando con la classe amsart; se lavorassi con la classe amsbook e cominciassi con un \chapter, vedresti due pagine numerate 1.

              Controlla il pacchetto ctable; sembra che funzioni, ma lui pensa di essere gestito da pdfTeX e non da XeTeX (i veri motori di composizione). C’è un warning che mi lascia molto perplesso.

                Ti ringrazio. Il conflitto tra Babel e polyglossia l’ho capito dopo. Per quanto riguarda la numerazione delle pagine, hai ragione ancora una volta. È un errore che mi trascino da del codice dove avevo bisogno di due 1, due 2, ecc. perché era un amsbook con testo a fronte.

                    Davide, con curiosità ho sperimentato il tuo ultimo contributo. Permettimi di fare le seguenti osservazion.
                    1) non caricare mai color se hai già caricato o se intendi caricare xcolor. Quest’ultimo carica color al momento opportuno in modo da non alterare i suoi comandi ridefiniti.
                    2) non caricare xltxtra perché sono anni che i suoi comandi temporanei, sono contenuti dentro fontspec e quindi usabili da xelatex e lualatex senza problemi
                    3) i tuoi esempi minimi compilabili, come puoi ben immaginare, non sono compilabili altro che da te; perché usi font commerciali che hai comprato e ti sei installato; per vedere che cosa succede, chi ti vuol dare una mano deve cambiare le specifiche dei font; io per esempio ho sostituito il tuo Bodoni con il GFS Bodoni, distribuito con il sistema TeX; avrei potuto fare anche una sostituzione simile con il font BreitkopfFraktur, che, tra l’altro hai specificato come font a spaziatura fissa come il teletype (macchina da scrivere) — io non avevo idea che il fraktur, di qualunque marca fosse un font a spaziatura fissa 🙂 E probabilmente mi puoi confermare che non lo è. Allora il tuo problema non è quello di specificarlo con il comando \setmonofont (che tanto non useresti come font a spaziatura fissa) ma quello di creare un comando per usarlo; il comando giusto è
                    `\newfontfamily}{\fraktur}{BreitkopfFraktur}` e lo richiami semplicemente con il nuovo comando \fraktur; la descrizione del comando \newfontfamily si trova nella documentazione di fontspec.

                      Grazie. Non lo sapevo. Quel comando e i suggerimenti saranno utili. Hai ragione: i miei esempi sono poco compilabili… Il Fraktur l’ho scelto dopo aver guardato esempi di vari Fraktur presso tipografie diverse.
