      Normale avere due pdftex.map?

      Iin ogni caso dentro ci sono tutti i Minion nei vari tipi (Caption ecc)
      Ho cancellato l’installazione precedente che mi dava qualche problema.
      La cosa (per me) un po’ strana rispetto ai font ottici precedenti
      è cha ll’inizio della compilazione appare:

      e via dicendo. Di conseguenza vengono prodotti quattro distinti file di map,
      e non uno solo e unitario come per gli altri caratteri ottici che ho installato,

      MinionPro.map, MinioProCaption.Map ecc. In pdftex.map comunque
      trovo tutto. A questo punto ho ricompilato l’esempio, ottenendo

        Togli tutto, installa TexLive 2012. La versione di Ubuntu, che poi altro non è
        che quella di Debian, è ormai un po’ vecchia. Inoltre, per motivi di sicurezza
        (almeno dal punto di vista di Debian) quella versione non ha tlmgr, per cui
        non puoi apportare automaticamente modifiche e aggiornamenti ai pacchetti
        direttamente dai repository di TexLive. Se poi ti servono programmi particolari
        (ad es. Kile, Texmaker, o altre cose che non immagini come mutt-print)
        che richiedono dipendenze che a quel punto Ubuntu non troverà, ricorri
        a equivs. Si tratta di creare pacchetti virtuali (e vuoti, per cui occupano
        uno spazio irrisorio) che “ingannano” gli altri pacchetti. Per fare un esempio,
        Kile crederà di trovare tutto quanto gli serve in versione Ubuntu per installarsi.

              Ma se uso i font con pdflatex e imposto
              `\usepackage{MinionPro}`
              pdflatex prende semplicemente MinionPro.map
              aumentando e diminuendo i carattere
              o, a seconda della dimensione del carattere richiesta,
              ricorre anche a MinioProCaption.map ecc ?

                Ma nel greco gli accenti no. Infatti nell'esempio:
                \GR{<'usteron pr'oteron} sono spostati visibilmente a destra \end{document}` il risultato è il seguente: [attachment=661]zzzz.png[/attachment] Co nXelatex tutto, come dicevo, risulta corretto, con pdflatex il problema è quello che si vede. Stessa cosa col Minion, tranne che in quel caso non è necessario specificare un alfabeto greco alternativo, poiché quel font inlude il gredo e il cirillico. m PS come noterete, continuo a confondere la sinistra con la destra... sarà colpa della situazione politica :-)

                  Scusa, ma non capisco bene.
                  Siamo d’accordo, autoinst installa gli otf. Xelatex gli usa.
                  Io intendevo chiedere se il fatto che MinioPro
                  abbia ben quattro file map, uno per dimensione,
                  può impedire a Xelatex di usarli tutti
                  a seconda delle dimensioni del carattere
                  che impostonel file da comporre.
                  Dalla tua risposta mi par di capire che Xelatex
                  non ha bisogno di queste map per gestire
                  adeguatamente le dimensioni del font…
                  E se compilo con pdflatex? L’esistenza
                  di queste quattro mappe lo confonde?

                    Eliminate le voci doppi nel file in /usr/local/texlive/2012/…,
                    in modo che le map dei caratteri da me installati rimangano
                    in /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/, nel caso di aggiornamenti
                    o reinstallazioni. Tutto funziona.

                    Un nuovo dubbio. Peraltro, mi spiace invadere il forum
                    con questi thread sui font, ma nello specifico mi pare
                    sia un tema qui mai trattato finora, così magari potranno
                    risultare utili a qualcun altro. Ho un problema coni MinionPro,
                    versione a corpi (4) ottici. Durante l’installazione con autoinst,
                    a differenza di quanto accaduto con altri font sempre
                    con (4) corpi ottici, ricevo il messaggio che il programma
                    non riesce a gestire tutti i file del font in un unico file map,
                    e ne produce quattro distinti, uno normale, uno capt, uno
                    subhead e uno disp. Vorrei capire se, caricando in un file
                    `\setmainfont[Ligatures=TeX,Numbers=OldStyle,Scale=1.1]{Minion Pro}`
                    Xelatex è in grado di usare tutti e quattro i tipi,
                    o se a questo punto riduce o aumenta solo il tipo “normale”.
                    Da cosa lo capisco?

                        Risolto, era un problema di permessi. Ho “chmodato” i file a 644,
                        mentre prima non erano leggibili dagli utenti semplici.

                        Un dubbio finale: updmap-sys mi dà un sequenza di
                        `updmap: font GaramondPremrPro-Smbd-tlf-ly1–base is defined multiple times:
                        updmap: GaramondPremierPro.map (from /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/updmap.cfg)
                        updmap: GaramondPremierPro (from /usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg) (used)`
                        Quale doppione cancello? Da un lato dovrei (credo) mantere la prima versione, nell’albero personale,

                            L’Adobe ha realizzato diversi caratteri reperibili in formato otf con corpo ottico:

                            tutti con i quattro corpi (e solo quelli) che rilevi anche tu.

                                  Io ho adottato
                                  `\defaultfontfeatures{Contextuals=NoAlternate}`
                                  proprio per evitare troppi “fronzoli”.
                                  Però due anni fa toccò a me redigere il famigerato Documento del 15 maggio
                                  per l’Esame di Stato di una classe e lo preparai con LaTeX e un Palatino:
                                  vinse il premio di “documento più fashion” dell’anno 🙂
                                  Cmq non solo gli studenti, ma anche colleghi e lettori in genere
                                  prestano scarsissima attenzioni agli aspetti tipografici
                                  e non solo a quelli. Come fa uno che legge libri a sbagliare regolarmente
                                  nell’approntare una bibliografia? E così via…
